Games for a New Climate

Parsons The New School of Design’s PETLab teamed up with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre and the American Red Cross to develop a set of games about climate-related disaster preparedness, such as flooding, drought and extreme weather. The initiative, called “Games for a New Climate”, are playful non-digital activities that actively engage participants in experiential learning through the simulation of complex decisions with consequences. The audience for these games include Red Cross staff and volunteers, climate scientists, politicians, and people around the world facing the increasingly catastrophic effects of climate change-related disasters. So far Games for a New Climate have been played in Senegal, Namibia, Kenya, Indonesia and the Philippines.
